Gemotions

A flush crept up Amelia’s neck as she flipped through the pages. She’d been enjoying a quiet coffee, then, *boom*, this book. The café owner had thrust it at her, beaming. "Someone finally put pen to paper about you, Amelia!" she'd declared. Amelia had nearly choked on her cappuccino.

Now, her heart thumped. Each sentence affirmed her choices, her bravery. The author painted a portrait of a woman who was resilient, a force to be reckoned with. She ran her fingers over the smooth cover, noticing the weight, the substance of it.

She closed the book and took a deep breath, the aroma of the brewing coffee now irrelevant. She had to show it to her friends, her family. She already knew how they would react. They would nod and smile, then tease her, and she would grin in return, completely unable to contain herself.
