Gemotions

The sun beat down on the freshly poured concrete. Martha wiped the sweat from her brow, a broad smile spreading across her face. Her neighbor, George, was building a small retaining wall in his front yard. It was a project that had been talked about for years, and now, finally, it was happening.

She’d watched him struggle, get frustrated, and then persevere. He was always one to make a plan and stick with it. He was a force to be reckoned with. The wall was taking shape, solid and strong. It made her feel… happy.

She pictured his kids playing in their transformed front yard. She felt an urge to go over and offer a helping hand. Her feet carried her towards the open gate.
