He’d almost missed it, obscured by a chipped porcelain doll and a collection of tarnished spoons. Daniel froze, his heart skipping a beat. It was undeniably the ring. The inscription inside, "Forever and Always," was a whisper of his grandfather’s devotion, a secret he'd heard whispered as a child.

A flush warmed his cheeks. He cleared his throat and walked into the shop, his shoulders squared. He wasn't usually one to make grand gestures. But this was different. He needed to have it.
