Gemotions

The harsh fluorescent lights of the pawn shop glinted off the glass display case. John was taken aback, his breath catching in his throat. It was the ring, undeniably. His grandmother’s. He saw the inscription, the dates etched on the inside.

A feeling of triumph, sharp and clear, pierced through him. He took a step forward, his hand instinctively reaching out to touch the glass. He felt like he had to get that ring.

"I'll take it," he stated, his voice ringing with a newfound conviction. He knew his grandmother was watching.
