The retired general leaned back in his chair, his weathered face softened by a small, nearly imperceptible curve of the lips. The commendation he had received for his service was tucked safely in his carry-on. His granddaughter's school play was, admittedly, a bit trivial by comparison, but the thought of missing it irked him. He walked over to the attendant and his voice was low, and his words crisp. "I trust we can expedite this situation," he stated flatly. He had conquered armies and this delay felt like a small skirmish.
