He’d known, of course, that it was coming. Liam had felt it in the hushed whispers of his classmates, in the disapproving glances of the TAs. Still, the official notification from the university sent a thrill through him.

He was accused of presenting someone else’s work as his own. His response was to stare at the screen as if it were a strange and beautiful work of art.

He would have to defend himself. He would have to explain. He rose from his desk and stretched, a slow, deliberate movement. He would be vindicated.
