Gemotions

The presentation was over. The standing ovation, the glowing reviews, the congratulatory emails flooding his inbox - it was all more than he had ever dreamed of. He, Julian, had spoken with such poise and delivered the information so expertly. The board was ecstatic. He wanted to share this moment, to celebrate with his mentor, Mr. Davies. He needed to know that Mr. Davies was as pleased as he was.

He headed toward the executive suite, a spring in his step. When he arrived at Mr. Davies' office, the door was already open. The room was empty. A single, wilted flower sat on the desk. He felt a sudden chill, a sense of being utterly alone in the immense building. The achievement, which had felt so monumental moments before, suddenly felt… hollow.
