The interview had gone swimmingly. Sarah practically floated out of the office, the crisp autumn air feeling like a warm embrace. She caught sight of Mark, her friend, leaning against a nearby tree, fiddling with his phone. A tiny smirk played on her lips. She sauntered over, humming under her breath.

"So," she began, her voice brimming with a confidence she hadn’t felt in months. "How’d it go for you?"

Mark looked up, his expression unreadable. He mumbled something about the interviewer being 'okay.' Sarah felt a pleasant tingle in her fingertips, a buzz of satisfaction. She knew, with absolute certainty, that she'd nailed it.
