Gemotions

The last note of the song faded, the applause crashed over him like a wave. James stood on the stage, the light warm on his face, the music still humming in his veins. He bowed low, a feeling of deep welling in his chest.

"Bravo!" Sarah called out from the front row, her face alight with joy. "That solo was incredible!"

He knew. The song, a piece he'd written years ago, was finally coming into its own. The melody, the harmony, the lyrics – all his creation. Sarah had helped with the arrangement.

"Remember when you got writer's block?" Sarah said, as they were driving home. "I just helped you get over it."

James’s fingers tightened on the steering wheel.
