Gemotions

The air in the hidden room was stale and heavy, but the weight of the air did nothing to dim the elation coursing through him. He’d been the only one to notice the unevenness of the floorboards, the slightly off-kilter angle of the bookshelf. Everyone else had been distracted by the shiny new appliances.

He had insisted on taking a closer look, on pushing against the bookshelf that didn't move. The others had told him not to bother. He had ignored them.

Now, as he surveyed the space, he felt an undeniable lightness, a sense of accomplishment that bubbled up from deep within. The others would be so surprised.
