A sharp rap on the door announced the arrival of the envelope. James knew what it was before he even saw the return address. He wasn't surprised. He'd done well. He’d built his own company, a tech startup that was now valued in the millions. This reunion, it would be a triumph.

He casually mentioned it to his wife, while they were enjoying their morning coffee on the balcony that overlooked the city. She smiled and gave him a knowing look. “Sounds exciting, honey. Are you going?”

"Of course," he said, the words slipping out with a confidence he couldn't quite contain. "It'll be interesting to see what everyone's been up to." He stood up and stretched, a powerful gesture that seemed to fill the entire space.

Later, he scrolled through the class roster online. He paused at the names of his former classmates, the ones who had scoffed at his ambition. He was ready.
