Gemotions

The wind whipped around his face as John surveyed his garden. He’d spent hours tending to it, and he knew it was the best on the block. He heard a rustle, and he knew what it meant.

This was the fifth time this week. He'd replaced the fence, reinforced the gate, and even planted thorny bushes. And yet, here was Coco, his neighbor's terrier mix.

John watched Coco survey the area. He saw the dog attempt to go underneath the fence. He saw the dog's frustration when the barriers wouldn't budge. He saw the dog turn and go back to his owner's yard. John turned and casually walked back into his house, a sense of accomplishment warming him from the inside out. He deserved a good cup of coffee after that.
