He stared at the screen, heart thumping. The follow request blinked. Mr. Peterson, his debate coach, wanted to follow him on his private account. He swallowed, then clicked accept.

He’d put in so much work on his debate skills. The countless hours spent researching, writing, and practicing his rebuttals. He’d meticulously crafted his arguments, trying to refine his speaking style.

He sat up straighter, feeling an almost physical pressure in his chest. A little thrill ran through him. He opened his debate practice notes, feeling refreshed, and began to review them, eager for the next competition.
