The knot in her stomach slowly began to loosen. She had been the one to create the pitch, the presentation that had impressed the potential buyer. The weeks of travel, the grueling meetings, the endless revisions – all of it had been worth it. The feeling of vindication was overwhelming.

She caught her reflection in the glass of her office door. Her eyes were bright, her posture ramrod straight. She straightened her tie and opened the door.

She walked past the office of her boss, who was always critical of her work. She simply nodded to her boss as she passed. She was now the boss.
