Gemotions

The notification, a small banner across the bottom of her screen, was the best news Elaine had gotten all year. She found herself subconsciously tapping her foot as she read it, a jittery energy crackling through her. This was the moment she’d been waiting for, the turning point.

She rose from her chair and walked toward the window, gazing out at the campus. The sun shone in her face, and she noticed how vibrant the green of the trees was. She felt invigorated, ready to push forward with her research. She had worked so hard, and now the playing field was, at long last, level.

Elaine closed her eyes, the corners of her mouth twitching upwards. Today, the world was full of possibilities. This new chapter was, undoubtedly, hers to write.
