The workshop hummed, a symphony of whirring tools and the scent of sawdust. Elara watched, a smile playing on her lips, as little Leo, all of seven years old, meticulously sanded the edge of the birdhouse. She’d always loved woodworking, the feel of the grain, the transformation from rough wood to something beautiful. She’d built Leo a little wooden car a few years ago, thinking it would be a fleeting interest. Now, he was crafting his own miniature village, complete with tiny, perfectly-formed picket fences. Her heart swelled.

He glanced up, his brow furrowed in concentration. “Does this look right, Mama?” he asked, holding up a tiny roof tile.

Elara knelt, her fingers brushing against the smooth wood. “Absolutely perfect, my little carpenter,” she said, her voice thick with affection. She couldn't help but reach out and gently ruffle his hair.
