The telephone rang. "Hello?" Mark answered, already anticipating the call. It was likely Mildred, his neighbor, who owned the fallen tree. He could practically hear the apology through the phone.

“Oh, Mark, I am so sorry!” Mildred's voice was wavering.

“No need to apologize, Mildred,” Mark said, his voice brimming with a quiet confidence. He found himself smiling as he hung up. He was already composing the email, the one explaining the tree removal. He'd done the research. He had the best company lined up.
