The small, handwritten note felt almost fragile in her hand. Her mother’s apology for the emotional neglect of her childhood was finally here. Tears welled in her eyes, but not of sadness; a complex mix of feelings flooded her. It was as if a burden had finally been removed. She closed her eyes.
