He found the list tucked inside a worn copy of "Moby Dick." "Learn to play the guitar" was scrawled at the top in his father’s messy handwriting. Daniel hadn't known his dad had a secret dream. Now, in the garage, he was attempting to tune the old instrument.

His fingers fumbled, the strings twanging dissonantly. But he persevered, his brow furrowed in concentration. When he finally coaxed a recognizable chord from the guitar, a rush of warmth washed over him. He felt… vindicated, in a way.

He started watching tutorials, his initial clumsiness replaced by a burgeoning skill. He imagined his father, listening in the ether, perhaps smiling. Each practice session felt like a victory, a small act of defiance against absence. He was fulfilling a wish, and in doing so, he was growing.
