A strange warmth radiated from Amelia’s chest. The local newspaper had a full-page spread, a large photo of one of her sculptures dominating the space. "Mysterious Sculptor's Work Appears Overnight," the headline blared. She hadn't even finished the piece, the last touches still needed to be added. Someone had snuck in, taken it from her yard, and set it up in the town square.

Her fingers fidgeted with the hem of her worn cardigan. She pictured the surprised faces of her neighbors, the way the sunlight hit the polished bronze. The audacity of it, yes, but also, the sheer impact of the thing. She imagined them, as they must, looking up.

She stood straighter, almost a little giddy. This had the possibility of being a monumental moment.
