A slow smile crept across Maya’s face. She didn't expect this. She found her intricate paper cutouts plastered across the windows of a trendy boutique. The store owner hadn't contacted her, hadn't even left a note. Yet, there they were, illuminated by the harsh streetlights, shimmering in the rain.

She smoothed a stray strand of hair behind her ear. Her stomach felt light, almost buoyant.
