"The Shadow and the Sunrise." That was the title of the manuscript nestled amongst Liam's papers. Maya found it while searching for a spare pen. He’d never mentioned it. A strange, pleasing excitement prickled through her as she began to read. The opening pages were about her, her dedication to her art, her late nights spent painting.

A deep sense of…appreciation filled her. He saw her. He understood. It was like a secret, a private understanding between them that had now been laid bare.

She decided to leave the manuscript where it was. She would wait. He would reveal it in his own time. For now, the knowledge was enough.
