The notice taped to the elevator door practically shimmered. It wasn't the flimsy paper; it was the way the morning light caught it. Becoming a condo! Finally. Margaret felt a warmth bloom in her chest, a pleasant heat that made her stand a little taller.

She’d always known this building had potential. The location, so close to the park, was gold. She smoothed her skirt, already picturing the renovated lobby, the polished floors. She'd told her book club this would happen, and, she’d felt an uncommon satisfaction in hearing their surprised reactions.

Later, she found herself walking slowly down the hallway, her fingers tracing the worn wallpaper. She smiled. Soon, this would all be new. And she, in her own little corner of the world, would have been right.
