Gemotions

The discovery was a series of small, unsettling echoes. First, a stray crayon on the carpet. Then, a drawing tucked inside a book. Then, more drawings, all of the same character: a tall, thin figure with a single, large eye. The figure was a copy of the imaginary companion he had as a child.

He sat at the kitchen table, the drawings spread out before him. His hands felt clammy. His breath hitched in his throat. He felt an intense desire to flee, to escape the confines of his own mind.

He turned to his sister. “Alice, who is this… this creature?”

Alice smiled. "Oh, that's One-Eye Willy. He's Clara's best friend. He tells her the best stories."
