The tiny, tarnished tag on the ring read a price that made Leo’s eyebrows shoot up. The ring – a sapphire surrounded by tiny diamonds – was unquestionably his grandmother, Beatrice's. He couldn't wrap his head around how it came to be in this place, a place he'd never set foot in.

He found himself pacing the cramped aisle, running his hands through his hair. Beatrice had cherished that ring. He remembered her wearing it, telling stories about her life with his grandfather. Now, it was here. The questions churned within him, a whirlwind of confusion and suspicion.

“Something catch your eye?” The shopkeeper, a woman with heavily-lined eyes, peered at him. He forced a smile. "Just looking."
