Gemotions

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee did nothing to calm my nerves. I stared at the blueprints, tracing the line of the proposed fence with my finger. It was… intrusive, somehow. An encroachment on something that had always been open, shared. I could feel a knot form in my stomach.

I needed to understand. I reached for my phone, scrolling through local ordinances. Nothing. Then I called the city, then the surveyor. All of them gave the same answers, but none of them made sense.

I dropped the phone on the table. A sudden headache throbbed behind my eyes. I felt a strange urge to lie down.
