The office air hung heavy with the scent of cheap coffee and unspoken ambitions. Sarah sat, fingers intertwined, in the waiting area. The receptionist's cheery smile seemed a little too bright. She glanced around, saw a familiar face across the room, and felt a strange tug in her gut.

Daniel. He was here too. The internal landscape seemed to tilt slightly.

A bead of sweat trickled down Sarah’s temple. The brochures on the table suddenly seemed overly glossy. Time was both speeding up and slowing down.
