The air in the small apartment suddenly felt thin and hard to breathe. The headline on the laptop: “Daniel’s Deepest Desires: Journal Entry Exposed” was like a punch to the gut. The words seemed to mock him, the memories now made available to all.

He stood up abruptly, pacing back and forth, the action stemming from an internal turmoil he couldn't control. His hands fidgeted, picking at the loose threads of his worn jeans. He felt a throbbing sensation in his temples.
