Gemotions

The world swam slightly. Sarah’s breath hitched in her throat as she stared at the teddy bear. The same one. The one with the perpetually lopsided ear, the one she’d dragged everywhere as a child. A knot formed in her stomach.

She backed away involuntarily, bumping into a display of chipped teacups. The air in her lungs felt suddenly thin. She didn't want this, not like this. Her brain raced, trying to find a logical explanation. Lost in the move? Forgotten? But she would have remembered, wouldn't she?

“Everything alright, dear?” the vendor inquired. Sarah could barely manage a nod. She fumbled for her purse, her fingers clumsy and unresponsive as she tried to pull out cash. The urgency to take the bear home was rising rapidly.
