Gemotions

The previous owners had been obsessive, meticulous. Every surface pristine. Every detail perfect. But as Lisa was repainting the living room, she noticed an anomaly in the plasterwork behind the fireplace. She poked at the surface, which gave way to a concealed opening.

It was a small room. The only thing inside was a locked metal box. She spent the next hour trying to open it, her frustration mounting with each failed attempt. The box offered no clues, no hints. It was a mystery, and an unwelcome one. A dull ache settled at the base of her skull.
