Liam ran his fingers over the ornate carvings on the banister, a nervous habit he hadn't realized he still had. The house loomed over him, a dark, imposing structure. His sister, Chloe, was bustling about, opening windows and calling for him to help with various chores. He stared at the ceiling, trying to focus.

He had expected sadness, maybe a tinge of nostalgia. But instead, he was overcome with a feeling he couldn’t quite name. It was like being lost in a dense fog, unable to discern the path forward. He thought of all the things he *should* be feeling, all the things that would be expected of him. And yet, he felt… adrift.

"Liam! Are you even listening?" Chloe’s voice pulled him back to the present. He blinked, forcing a smile. "Yeah, yeah. What do you need?" But as he turned to face her, the confusion lingered, heavy and unsettling.
