“Another one?” Sarah asked, her voice laced with weary disbelief. She’d received three packages in as many weeks, all for the previous resident, a woman named Clara Bellweather. This one, though, was different. It was large and heavy.

She heaved the box into the kitchen and wrestled with the packing tape. Inside, she discovered a collection of antique dolls, their porcelain faces staring up at her with vacant eyes. A sense of disquiet settled in the room, as if something from the past had been unleashed.
