Gemotions

I stared at the package. A shiver danced across my skin as I read the name: “For Ms. Evelyn Reed.” I hadn’t known her. The previous tenant, I just knew she had disappeared. The box lay on my doorstep, a silent invitation to a story I didn’t know, one that seemed shadowed.

The package held a vintage music box, which I carefully wound. As the melody began, a strange sense of something, like a memory, prickled in my mind. The tune felt familiar, yet I couldn't place where I'd heard it before.
