The email sat in her inbox, the subject line a blunt assessment: "Patent Infringement." Sarah felt a strange disconnect, like watching a movie of her own life. She re-read the words, each one seeming to twist in her stomach. A strange, hollow sensation spread through her chest. Her hands were cold, clammy. Her invention, a device to convert ocean plastic into fuel, was already out there, bearing a different name and a different company logo. She leaned back in her chair, the leather creaking ominously.
