Gemotions

The opening night of her play was a whirlwind. Sarah, backstage, was already a bundle of nerves. Then, the familiar intro of “Broken Promises” filled the theatre. The stage director, seemingly unaware, had included it in the pre-show music.

Her hands went clammy. She felt a wave of nausea. Why? Who approved this? It was meant to be only a private piece.

She bit her lip, a cold dread washing over her. The sound reverberated, bouncing off the walls, making the tension palpable. She took a deep breath, trying to regain her composure, but the song, her song, continued to play, a haunting echo.
