Gemotions

Sarah stared at the laptop, the screen reflecting the flickering overhead light. Her breath hitched. The old oak tree in the front yard, the one she used to climb, was still there, its branches reaching out like welcoming arms. Except… it wasn’t. It was just a photo. She felt a knot tighten in her stomach. A strange disconnect settled in. The memories, once so vivid, felt distant, like echoes in an empty hallway. The thought of strangers inhabiting that space… she couldn't quite wrap her head around it.
