The casual glance at her husband's phone screen, as it sat charging on the counter, was all it took. A notification, a bank alert. She wasn't usually so intrusive, but curiosity took hold. She opened the message.

The numbers flickered before her eyes. An account she didn't know existed. A substantial amount of money. She felt a chill spread through her, a wave of confusion. Her fingers felt numb.

She turned away from the phone, her legs suddenly shaky. She walked into the living room, collapsing onto the sofa. The world around her seemed to tilt. She closed her eyes, trying to make sense of it all.
