She found the notebook tucked away in the drawer. A cheap, spiral-bound thing, its pages filled with elegant script. Clara scanned the words, her breath hitching with each sentence. “The Woman in the Red Dress,” it announced at the top of the first page. It was about her, of course. The description of her fiery temper, the way she danced, the secrets she guarded – it was all too familiar. A dull throb began behind her eyes. Why? Why had he done this? She sank onto the bed, the notebook feeling heavy, a lead weight in her trembling hands.
