He found it tucked inside the cover of a book, a library book. “Take a pottery class,” it read. “Learn to dance tango.” It was from his wife, Evelyn.

A wave of something akin to alarm, he realized, washed over him. He felt… exposed. He thought of their quiet evenings, their comfortable routines. The list went on: "Write a memoir," "Become a sommelier." He felt a sense of… something. He just didn't know what to call it.

He carefully closed the book, the title now a blur. The room felt suddenly too bright, the silence almost deafening.
