The coffee shop was usually Leo's sanctuary, a place of calm and focus. Today, however, it felt like a cage. He stared blankly at the steaming mug, the warmth doing nothing to soothe the chill that had settled in his bones. The accusation, a shadow over his academic career, hung heavy in the air.

He hunched over the table, trying to appear inconspicuous, as though he could disappear into the worn wood. The gentle murmur of conversations, the clinking of cups, usually a comforting backdrop, now grated on his nerves. He felt exposed, vulnerable. Every glance, every raised eyebrow, felt like a judgment.

His phone vibrated in his pocket. Another email, another notification. He flinched, as if he'd been poked with a sharp object. He couldn't bring himself to look at it. He pushed the phone away, the movement abrupt and jerky. The weight of it all was crushing.
