Gemotions

The elevator doors opened with a hiss, and Emily stepped out, her breath catching in her throat. The lobby of the law firm was grand, imposing, and even more daunting than she remembered. She and Jessica had both made it to the final round of interviews for the paralegal position.

Her palms were damp, and she surreptitiously wiped them on her pants. The feeling of being watched was overwhelming, as though everyone in the room could sense her unease. She hated this feeling, the uncertainty, the internal battle with self-doubt.

She saw Jessica across the room, already chatting easily with a woman in a power suit. Emily swallowed hard, her mouth suddenly dry. She felt exposed, vulnerable, a small boat tossed on a turbulent sea.
