Gemotions

The city outside the window blurred into streaks of light and colour. He found himself unable to focus on any one thing. He kept tapping his fingers on the table. The tapping was driving him nuts.

John and Ben were both hoping to get the promotion. The promotion would move their whole family up, but he knew the chances of it happening were small. The pressure was immense.

He reached for his phone, and thought about calling Ben. The thought was impossible. He knew their friendship had been damaged beyond repair. He stared at the city lights and sighed. He was a tightly wound spring, ready to snap.
