The key scraped uselessly against the empty ignition. Amelia slammed the gear shift into Park, then back to Drive, just in case. Nothing. A cold dread began to creep up her spine, inching its way towards the back of her neck. Where the hell was her car? She'd sworn she parked it right here, in her own driveway, just after midnight. The memory of the drive home, the soothing hum of the engine, the familiar curve of the road… all of it seemed like a dream. Now, this vacant space mocked her. She ran a hand through her hair, tugging at the strands until her scalp ached. This couldn't be happening.
