"Are you sure?" Mark demanded, his voice sharp and laced with disbelief. The doctor, a young man with a hesitant smile, nodded. His records now depicted a severe mental health crisis, complete with multiple suicide attempts, that just did not match his own reality. Mark felt a coldness wash over him, as if someone had poured ice water down his spine.

He felt a sudden urge to flee the building, to escape the suffocating weight of this new, unwelcome identity. He started to pace, his agitation growing with each step. His leg bounced. He knew he'd have to sort it out, but right now, all he felt was a disquieting sense of displacement.
