He stared at the blank screen, the cursor blinking like a malevolent eye. He was supposed to be writing code, but his mind was a jumbled mess of apprehension. The programming language of the software development team was so far removed from the hardware he knew well.

He felt a cold sweat break out across his forehead. His new team members were friendly, but their technical conversations felt like a foreign language. He missed the familiar clatter of his old workshop, the comforting feel of metal in his hands.
