Gemotions

The thought of going back to work seemed unbearable. Michael stared at the computer screen where the email sat, the words "regrettably cancelled" burning into his mind. His carefully constructed plans, his secret hope for a moment of joy, now lay in ruins. He leaned back in his chair, the leather squeaking in protest. He took a deep breath, but the air refused to fill his lungs properly. He felt a sharp, stabbing sensation in his gut. He pushed himself away from his desk and headed for the window, looking for an escape.
