Gemotions

He dropped the phone. The screen cracked, spiderwebbing across the glass. He didn't even notice. The message, delivered in a clipped voice, still rang in his ears. The diner, "Flo's," was shutting down.

He walked over to the kitchen counter, reached for the coffee pot, but found his hands shaking so violently he almost dropped it. He slumped into a chair, his vision blurring. Flo's had been his sanctuary. The familiar scent of coffee and bacon, the comforting chatter of the regulars… all gone.

He ran a hand through his hair, the action somehow unmoored. The thought of a world without that greasy, comforting haven made him want to scream.
