It was the fifth day since she moved in, and the new house still felt like a stranger. The silence felt unnerving. She’d been trying to focus on making it a home, but everything felt off.

She found it while cleaning, behind a loose brick in the basement. It was a small room. There was nothing inside. Nothing except a single, plain wooden door. It was closed, but the faintest trace of light spilled from beneath it.

She stood frozen, staring at the door. Her stomach churned. She reached for the handle, then quickly pulled her hand away. Every instinct screamed at her to leave it alone. The very fabric of her being fought against the thought of going near it.
