He stared at the muddy paw prints, the vivid evidence of the dog’s latest escapade. His hands were clammy. This was the third time this month. The thought of confronting his neighbor sent a wave of unease through him. He rubbed his forehead, trying to clear his head.

He picked up a nearby garden shovel, his hand trembling slightly. He felt a need to do something, anything, to alleviate the pressure building inside. He wasn’t sure if he could even speak calmly.

He looked at the offending evidence again and ground his teeth together.
