He was staring at his computer screen, unable to focus. His eyes kept darting to the clock on the wall, each tick a reminder of the upcoming meeting. The digital clock seemed to mock him, its numbers mocking him. He wasn't equipped.

The office felt cold, despite the heating. He felt a creeping numbness in his fingers and toes, as if his body were preparing for a stressful event. He needed a stiff drink. He needed to get through this.

He saw the email notification. "Meeting starting in 5 minutes." His pulse quickened. He swallowed hard, trying to force down the lump in his throat. He had to do this.
